Lis Simon Bride Gabrielle

Of dance parties, personal touches, and vintage car — Lis Simon Bride Gabrielle + Miles classic industrial wedding is filled with love and laughter.

It all started with mutual connections. Gabrielle was friends with Miles’ brother, Preston, and though their paths should have crossed sooner, they didn’t officially meet until their last year of college. Miles is a pilot, and after connecting on a rooftop out with friends, he offered to take her up flying the following day. “He quite literally swept me off my feet and we have talked every day since”.

Miles proposed to Gabrielle in their newly purchased first home. He had the main floor scattered with candles and popped the question in their dining room! (We love a private and intimate proposal)

Dress: Molly

My dress shopping experience was so incredibly FUN!

Gabrielle was beyond excited going into her appointment, and the best thing about it was it ended up exceeding her expectations! She had other appointments, but ended up finding her dream dress at her first appointment at Finery Bridal Chic in Rochester, Minnesota.

Reception | The Garden Wedding and Event Centre in Duluth, Minnesota

Classic-industrial.

The couple’s reception was held in a building that was built in the 20th century and has served a variety of uses ranging from boiler manufacturing to coal wholesaling, and even an old sports garden. String lights dangled from the ceiling, dinner tables were scattered with candles, and white roses & calla lilies and rustic Italian greenery were sprinkled throughout. “I must give our event designer, Kelli Grimm, a lot of credit for her creative eye and help bringing our vision to life”.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM YOUR SPECIAL DAY

Anecdotes from the bride:

  • Walking down the aisle towards Miles with both of my parents in hand.

  • Driving away in Miles’ Grandpa’s vintage car after we tied the knot (we ended up getting beers in between the ceremony and reception at our favourite pub).

  • Lastly, I spontaneously sang karaoke to Miles in front of our dancefloor at the end of the night – “Can’t Take My Eyes off You” by Frankie Valli.

Gabrielle’s dad recorded a song he wrote for her when she was a baby, and they danced to it as their father/daughter dance. Gabrielle and Miles wrote letters to each table, thanking all their guests for coming and sharing some of their favourite memories with them.

PREPARATIONS AND INSPIRATIONS

Motif: Timeless, while incorporating personal touches.

Pinterest and Instagram were the two platforms that helped Gabrielle envision her dream wedding.

HONEYMOON

They spent their honeymoon in Hawaii and Australia – “it was such a great trip to debrief and relax after the wedding!”

From Gabrielle

Try your best to soak in every moment of the wedding day. People say it is the best day of your life, and I did not know the meaning of that phrase until October 7th. The planning process can be overwhelming, and certain expectations may not be met, but it is truly such a special time that you may miss (even if it is crazy busy!).
